AK/DK used in worldwide bandcamp campaign

We think bandcamp is the best thing since sliced bread – it’s allowed us to stay independent, whilst sell and distribute our music worldwide. Now they’re using our track Lost: Eric to promote the new ‘Discoverinator‘ function.

Have a look here; http://blog.bandcamp.com/2012/06/07/behold-the-glory-of-the-discoverinator/

Damo Suzuki, Ann Shenton, Feline1 and AK/DK

Photo of Damo Suzuki singing and Ann Shenton playing Theremin

We had the pleasure of acting as ‘soundcarriers’ for legendary Can frontman; Damo Suzuki at his show in Brighton on 19th June. The show also featured Ann Shenton (from Large Number / Add N to X) and Feline1.

Damo’s philosphy of ‘Instant Composition’ or improvisation has seen him play a never-ending tour since 1983.

Above is a short excerpt of the show for those who missed it (however 4mins of a 1.5hr show doesn’t really do it justice!).

And here’s a collection of photos from the event taken by Melita Dennett;

Video: Tracers

This is a little video that we made to compile all our old favourite 80s cartoons. The track is ‘Tracers’ which we recorded late last year.

Singles are finished!

AK/DK making the singleWe spent the evening last night drinking beers and packaging up our first single – Dispatch #1. Each cassette is hand numbered and comes with a special hand-printed linocut artwork. A special shoutout to Jimmy who helped us with the printing – thanks for the inky fingers!

The cassette is available from our bandcamp – http://akdk.bandcamp.com and comes with a free digital download version. We have included two versions of the download – one is recorded back off the cassette so you can make your mp3 player sound like an 80’s cassette walkman… geeky retro?

AK/DK, Johanna Bramli, and metaLuna perform at John Cage exhibition

Flyer for a nod to Cage at the De La Warr Pavillion

We are proud to be playing as part of the exhibition of John Cage’s work at the De La Warr Pavillion.

We have been collaborating with metaLuna and Johanna Bramli on a piece inspired by John Cage’s 1963 piece ‘Cartridge Music‘. We have used the beautiful architecture of the building to create a graphical score which metaLuna will animate and project onto the building in realtime. AK/DK and Johanna Bramli will then interpret the score using contact mics and record cartridges to pick up different sounds from the building.

We are heavily influenced by Cage’s work, particularly experimental electronic pieces such as this, so we are honored to be a part of this great exhibition.
